US$5.5 million grant to produce animal feed from marine algae


Cellana LLC, a subsidiary of Hawaii-based HR BioPetroleum is to receive a US$5.5 million (UK£3.336 million) grant from the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) to produce affordable animal feed from marine algae in order to aid the large-scale production of feedstocks for biofuels, aquaculture and other animal feeds.
 
Cellana LLC is set to be the first algae company to move towards commercial use for a biofuel application in Hawaii. This commercial algae facility would also represent one of the first of its kind in the United States. Read more ...
