Hungary destroys all GM maize fields

Recently in Hungary some 400 hectares of maize which was found to be grown with GM seeds, was destroyed. Lajos Bognar Hungary's deputy state secretary of the ministry of rural development said that the "genetically modified maize had been ploughed under and that pollen had not spread from the maize".

Pioneer and Monsanto products have been found among the seeds planted by controllers. The free movement of goods within the European Union means that authorities will not investigate how the seeds arrived in Hungary but they will check where the goods can be found, Bognar said. Read more ...
