United Soybean Board predicts India to import soybean by 2015

India is the fifth  largest soybean producer in the world contributing about five percent to the global output but the United Soybean Board predicts India could become a net importer of soybean by 2015. According to Jim Call, international marketing chairman of producers' lobby group, United Soybean Board, "India’s population growth, economy growth and more people moving into the middle class, plus production being limited as far as their land-base will result in India having to import soybeans".
