DDG use has quadrupled since 2004/5

Distillers grains (DDGs) production has quadrupled since 2004-05 showing a similar trend to the rapid growth of the US ethanol production. DDGs as a feedstuff is in high demand, even though the initial concerns about the capacity of US or foreign livestock feeders to utilise DDGs. DDG's are now the second largest category of processed feed in the United States. The US Economic Research Service projections point to further growth in DDGs production. For the foreseeable future, however, potential feed use of DDGs in the US exceeds projected supply. Read more ...
