£250m for UK bioscience

University bioscience departments and research facilities across the UK are set to benefit from a £250m cash injection.

The funding, announced by Science Minister David Willetts at the Babraham Research Campus near Cambridge, is part of the government's high-tech growth strategy.

Mr Willetts said the money will be used to "meet challenges such as sustainably feeding the growing world population, finding alternatives to dwindling fossil fuels and supporting an ageing society to remain healthy for longer".
