29/11/12: Stories on Cargill's scholarship programme; UK feed company ditches palm oil

  • Cargill, working with the Institute of International Education, has launched a new scholarship programme to help build future potential leaders. The Cargill Global Scholars programme will provide financial support, leadership development and enrichment opportunities to nearly 200 talented and high-performing undergraduate students in five countries. The selected individuals will be chosen based on their demonstrated high level of academic performance and leadership potential.“Cargill has long been committed to improving the communities in which we operate, and supporting higher education is part of this commitment,” says Pat Bowe, corporate vice president at Cargill. “The Cargill Global Scholars program will succeed when these students go on to become important leaders in their respective communities and industries and be part of a global network of program alumni.” Read more...
  • Feed supplements manufacturer, Ufac-UK has told Farming UK that it has removed palm oil from 90 percent of its products. All commercial organisations have signed an agreement to source 'credibly certified sustainable palm oil' by 2015. Some organisations, including Marks and Spencer, avoid using products containing palm oil  including those from livestock fed diets containing palm oil due to the negative impact of unsustainable palm oil production.
