19/08/2013: R-Biopharm appoints customer service manager; M2M solution to improve feed efficiency; tarps versus grain bags

Jill Arnott, a senior member of the customer care team at R-Biopharm Rhône, has been appointed new customer service manager.

Arnott will head the department which oversees all aspects of order handling and delivery and will be responsible for maintaining the company's reputation for speed and efficiency.

Originally from Auchinloch, Scotland, UK, Arnott takes over from Robert Muir, who has retired from R-Biopharm Rhône after 16 years.

Livestock feeding manufacturer Keenan has partnered with British telecommunications company Vodafone to supply a machine-to-machine (M2M) solution to improve nutritional data analysis.

Keenan manufactures machines which feed livestock. As well as the hardware, the company also provides a nutritional information service.

Farmers short on storage this year might consider tarping grain or using grain bags. But neither is good for long-term storage or high-moisture grain according to Dr Chelladurai Vellaichamy, a PhD biosystems engineering student at the University of Manitoba, Canada.

Vellaichamy and his colleagues have been researching canola storage in grain bags for three years, with support from the Canola Council of Canada and Growing Forward.
