10/04/14: Nutriad International’s TOXY-NIL® and UNIKE® authorized by recent EU anti-mycotoxin legislation to claim efficacy in reduction of aflatoxin B1 contamination

Dendermonde, Belgium – The European Commission concluded with its regulation 1060/2013 that bentonite* has the potential to reduce the contamination by aflatoxin B1 of poultry, pig and ruminant feeds.
Nutriad’s TOXY-NIL® and UNIKE® brands contain bentonite that fulfills the requirements of the European Union Reference Laboratory (EURL) on aflatoxin-binding capability. This brings Nutriad into line with the latest legal recognition of scientific claims on mycotoxin deactivation.Mycotoxin specialist Dr. Olga Averkieva commented: “this supports the long lasting and continued efforts of Nutriad International in the search for effective solutions against this permanent, mostly hidden threat. Aflatoxin B1 presence in ingredients should to be a point of attention for everybody involved in the food/feed chain, as recently evidenced by aflatoxin B1 contamination incidents in the Netherlands and other countries.
