06/05/14: VIV India International Livestock Industry Week 2014: Successfully concluded in Bengaluru, India

The much awaited VIV India International Livestock Industry Week successfully concluded today with the closing of VIV India 2014, the exhibition for India’s Meat, Eggs, Dairy, Pigs and Fish industries held during 23-24-25 April, 2014 at Bangalore International Exhibition Centre (BIEC) in Bengaluru, India.

Global Animal Nutrition Conference 2014 
The ball was set rolling for the International Livestock industry week from 20-25 April, 2014 with the grand inauguration of Global Animal Nutrition Conference 2014 (GLANCE 2014) on 20 April, 2014 at VIVANTA by Taj-Yeshwantpur, Bengaluru. The Chief Guest of the function was Shri Bharat Vir Wanchoo, Honorable Governor of Goa, who highlighted the role of a vibrant livestock sector in growth of India’s GDP sector.

Speaking on the occasion, the keynote speaker Dr. Amrita Patel, Former Chairperson, National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) mentioned that the deliberations and outcome of such conferences should reach out to the farmers, the real beneficiaries of such high-ranking deliberations, and not remain confined within the walls of the laboratories.  Dr. S. Ayyappan, Secretary, Government of India, Department of Agricultural Research & Education and Director General, Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) mentioned that the best culture is agriculture. The need of the hour for the development of agriculture is “3Ws - weather, water and women” and, therefore, the theme selected for the conference was quite appropriate.

GLANCE 2014 concluded on 22 April, 2014 with valedictory session followed by the opening ceremony of VIV India 2014. The Chief Guest of the opening ceremony was Mr. S.V. Ranganath, Chairman, Industrial Finance Corporation of India (IFCI) and Former Chief Secretary, Government of Karnataka. The other dignitaries on the dais were Dr. Suresh Honnappagol, the Animal Husbandry Commissioner, Government of India, Mr. K.H. Aswathanarayana Gowda, I.A.S., Secretary to Government of Karnataka, Animal Husbandry & Fisheries Department, Mr. Wouter Verhey, Agriculture Counsellor, Embassy of the Netherlands, Dr. C.S. Prasad, Director, National Institute of Animal Nutrition and Physiology, Dr. Dinesh Bhosale, Chairman, CLFMA of India, Mr. MCR Shetty, President, Karnataka Poultry Farmers and Breeders Association and Mr. B.R. Sainath, Zonal Chairman Bengaluru, National Egg Cordination Committee.

VIV India 2014
VIV India was officially opened on 23 April, 2014 for the trade professionals with the ribbon cutting ceremony by Dr. Suresh Honnappagol, the Animal Husbandry Commissioner, Government of India followed by a guided tour to each of the exhibitors by the Animal Husbandry Commissioner.

VIV India 2014 was organized from 23-25 April 2014 at BIEC, Bengaluru and witnessed a large participation by 130 exhibitors from 20 countries and attendance by 6815 trade visitors from 15 countries. There were special delegations from China, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. The exhibitors displayed latest equipment and products to attract the trade visitors over 3 days of the exhibition. The exhibitors were quite satisfied with the turnout of high-level industry visitors from India and abroad.

VIV India Summit
The VIV India Summit was organized on April 23, 2014, BIEC, Bengaluru under the theme of ‘Vision India Farm to Fork - Meeting the consumer demands in next 5 years’. The summit was developed and presented by NAFTC and Global Dairy Farmers, supported by the Royal Netherlands Embassy of India. The Summit presented the Dutch best practices in livestock production.

Industry Support for VIV India 2014
VIV India 2014 received industry support from major associations such as National Egg Co-ordination Committee (NECC), All India Poultry Development & Services (AIPDS), The Compound Feed Manufacturers Association (CLFMA) of India, Poultry Federation of India (PFI), Animal Nutrition Society of India (ANSI), National Institute of Animal Nutrition and Physiology (NIANP), Netherlands Agro Food & Technology Centre (NAFTC) and  Global Dairy Farmers.


2nd Global Milling Conference 
The 2nd Global Milling Conference was organized by Perendale Publishers, United Kingdom from 23-24 April 2014 at Mövenpick Hotel & Spa, Bengaluru. The conference deliberated on adopting modern milling practices and processes to benefit India, a major user of milled products and a country which will lead the region in technological advancements. It focused on reducing the cost of feed, enhance the livestock industry and meet the food and feed security needs of people. This event brought international participants to India to review the Indian milling industry (flour, rice, feed and grains) from a milling processing point-of-view.
