05/06/14: New video resources to be offered by EBLEX

Video and multimedia content accessible to farmers, processors and journalists via the EBLEX website is being expanded to add to the online technical and news resources already available.
Media officer Ben Coates joined the team last month with a brief to ensure the most was being made of these channels to communicate with levy payers. He formerly worked in the television industry in both development and production, with credits on output for ITV, BBC, Dave and Virgin 1. He has produced a range of film content for a number of national organisations and joins EBLEX from a communications role with a local government authority.
The timing of Ben’s appointment coincides with the unveiling of the EBLEX mobile app, which has also been launched to ensure that the latest information is conveniently available for those in the beef and sheep supply chain.
Ben said: “Video is becoming one of the main communication channels of choice worldwide, and the number of online video users is expected to double to 1.5 billion in 2016. This is particularly prevalent among smartphone users, with online video now accounting for 50% of all mobile traffic and up to 69% of traffic on certain networks*. It is therefore vital to successful communications for an organisation like this.
“I’m delighted to join the EBLEX team and am looking forward to showcasing the work of the organisation. The focus will be on producing informative, yet easily digestible, content to help the beef and sheep supply chain become more efficient.
“There is so much emerging resources and technical information available from the Better Returns Programme alone, and video is an ideal vehicle to share it with the industry.
EBLEX head of communications James Wilde added: “Ben brings a new skillset which will complement our team and make a valuable contribution to our ongoing communications work.
“We hope that pushing key messages and organisational updates through short, informative videos will help us provide even more information to beef and sheep meat businesses.”
