04/11/2014: Mehmet Alapala, founder of the Alapala Group, passed away on October 28, 2014

Mehmet Alapala was born in Çorum in 1923. He passed away on October 28, 2014.

"Mehmet Alapala who adopted honesty, hardwork and perfection as principles of life, was a 'treasure' leading next generations after him." - in commemoration.
He started his working life at a young age towards the end of 1930s, first working in the construction industry preparing wooden parts for buildings with his father Abdullah Alapala. Promoted to carpenter, he set up his own carpenter’s shop together with his brother Mustafa Alapala some years later. He was actively involved in the establishment of Hatap Flour Mill founded by Simons – the British mill manufacturer - in Çorum in 1961.

Such experience inaugurated a new era for both Mehmet Alapala and the following generations. Milling machines were being made of wood during those early years.
Mehmet Alapala started manufacturing “square sieve” machines used in flour mills, thanks to his experience gained during such works.

He commenced selling sieves to all factories in Turkey very shortly afterwards as he gave much importance to quality and worked very meticulously. He was the only person who did this business in Turkey and he then laid the foundation of Alapala Makina that succeeded in becoming one of the top three companies in its sector around the world.

Mehmet Alapala later, upon joining of his sons Nurettin and İsmail Alapala, started manufacturing all machinery produced in a flour mill and in establishing turnkey mills. Thus, he laid the foundation of Alapala Group after he set up Alapala Feed Factory in 1982 and Çorum Alapala Flour Mill in 1984.
