RUMALATO preventing acidosis

On the 27th of February, DIFAGRI, French producer of dietetic complementary feed (www.difagri.fr), organized a technical meeting with 40 of their own clients and visited a dairy farm in the West of France. Mr David Gilbert, DIFAGRI’s sales and technical manager notes: “We have seen in the field better results in the control of acidosis over these last two years in which we have introduced RUMALATO to our RIMIFLOR range of products. On this dairy farm we have seen in the last six months in particular an improvement of one liter a day per cow in milk production. This is why we decided to show our customers the good results that we can obtain with a RUMALATO supplement in combination with yeast”. RUMALATO is a salt of malic acid that reduces lactic acid concentration in the rumen by stimulating lactate utilisation by Selenomonas ruminantium. It also has positive effects on ruminal fermentation and increases nutrient digestibility, pH and propionate production.

HIDROFLAX, a new Norel product

http://www.norel.es/en
Nowadays consumer demands for healthier food is increasing. In this sense, and in line with medical recommendations, many consumers tend to buy milk products with a healthier fatty acid profile. They particularly prefer higher levels of Omega-3 due to its positive effects on human health (Abuajah et al, 2014). Consequently, the dairy industry is currently rewarding farmers who produce milk with a higher content of Omega-3. NOREL is aware of this situation and, faithful to its principles, has developed HYDROFLAX as a way to help farmers to deal with the changing and competitive environment that they are part of. HYDROFLAX is based on flax oil and constitutes a great source of by-pass Omega-3, since the 30.5 percent of its Omega-3 content has been effectively protected against rumen biohydrogenation. When compared to other Omega-3 sources, such as flax oil, the by-pass Omega is increased by 53.27 percent (UAB, 2010). In parallel, the high energy density of HYDROFLAX (99 percent crude fat) has proven to increase milk production (liters/day) and milk fat percentage. Apart from milk production, the higher amount of Omega-3 available for animal metabolism will increase farms’ profitability through a higher reproductive performance, since feeding dairy cows with products with high contents in Omega-3, such as flaxseed, improves the conception rate by up to 50.3 percent compared to other sources of feed (Ambrose et al., 2006). In this way, milk production, milk quality, reproductive performance, farm profitability and consumer health constitute the pillars of NOREL’s new release!

FECINOR SOLUBLE, a solution for weaning stress in piglets

http://www.norel.es/en
Apart from absorbing nutrients, the gut is also the barrier against unwanted compounds and germs. However, these mechanisms can be disrupted by stress factors. One of the best studied is weaning. Feed intake drops during the first week after weaning and the scarce body reserves are mobilized, villi height is reduced and the proportion of immature enterocytes increases, therefore the enzymatic activity of the gut is reduced. The gut microflora is also altered, the Lactobacilli population decreases and at the same time E. coli numbers increase. Enterococcus faecium, the bacterium present in FECINOR SOLUBLE, is a very well known LAB (Lactic acid bacterium) capable of producing lactic acid through fermentative metabolism of sugars. This bacterium multiplies at a rapid rate (doubling in CFU count every 19 minutes), and adheres to the intestine epithelium forming, together with lactobacilli, a ‘biological barrier’. FECINOR SOLUBLE also produces a large quantity of enzymes that increase digestibility. It transforms more than half of the available sugars to acids known to have an antibacterial effect; these acids regulate the intestinal pH, promoting the conversion of pepsinogen into pepsin, increasing the endogenous proteolytic capacity. E. faecium also have an impact on the active transport of nutrients. An increase in glucose and phosphorus uptake from the jejunum was observed in a recent study (M.C. Walsh et al., 2014) in which Salmonella-challenged animals were treated with E. faecium. The supplementation in the weaning period with a high growth rate LAB makes adaptation to the new conditions easier for piglets.

Norel expands commercial activities in China

Recently Norel have started to commercialize their line of ruminant additives in some provinces in the North East of China. In order to support and reinforce their marketing and trading activities, NOREL will be present at the WORLD DAIRY EXPO & SUMMIT CHINA 2015 in Harbin, capital city of Heilongjiang Province, from April 22-24, 2015. Heilongjiang is one of the world’s most important areas for the dairy and beef industries, consisting of large numbers of dairy and cattle operations and processing facilities. In fact, it is the centre of the Chinese dairy industry with 1,917,000 cows, and with a project to build up to 100 new farms with 1200 milking cows each. NOREL will be sharing Booth B260 in Hall B with its collaborator Lacto – China Co. Ltd.
