VIV Russia 2015 was held from May 19 - 21 in the Moscow Crocus Expo Exhibition Centre. The exhibition successfully showcased products and services in poultry-, pig, fish- and livestock farming, presented by over 304 companies from 25 countries. In addition to the individual stands, national pavilions from China, France, the Netherlands, South Korea, and the USA were present at the exhibition. On the Monday preceding the show the 1st VIV International Russia Summit took place in the Lotte Hotel in Moscow.
VIV Worldwide project manager Ruwan Berculo positively reviews this year’s edition, based on the feedback of exhibitors and visitors:
“Our objective was that VIV Russia would help respond constructively and positively to the challenging conditions in Russia’s industry. Fact is that the event reflected both the resilience and the ambition of Russia’s animal production market to move forward – despite, or maybe even because of - the current market circumstances.”
As far exhibitors are concerned, key suppliers from all segments in the feed to meat chain were represented.
“Their solid commitment to their Russian customers and the industry was rewarded and appreciated by the visitors, who rated the show with an 8.1 on a scale of 1 – 10,” says Mr Berculo.
Visitors’ origin related to animal species were as follows: 40 percent poultry broilers, 21 percent poultry layers, 16 percent pigs, 8 percent cattle and calves, 7 percent dairy cows.
VIV International Russia Summit
The combination of the trade fair and a parallel program has again been extended compared to the previous edition.
Mr Berculo: “This year, we did not only present an extensive number of conferences and sessions during the exhibition but we also organized a topical summit on the Monday preceding the show. On May 18, the first edition of the VIV International Russia Summit took place in the Lotte Hotel in Moscow.
“We invited industry leaders to attend the –either Russian-language or simultaneously translated- program sessions.”
In the Plenary Session, the audience received valuable insights on new industry trends, specified in an outlook on the animal protein market, long-term global strategic changes and expectations for the industry in Russia. Parallel sessions zoomed in on animal health (MSD Animal Health), animal nutrition (DuPont, Koudijs Mkorma and Kemin), Feeding/Breeding (Cargill-Provimi, Cobb, HatchTech and Vencomatic Group), breeding & incubation (Hubbard, Pas Reform Hatchery Technologies and Jansen Poultry Equipment), IT in meat processing (Plaut), pork production (Big Dutchman GmbH, Osborne and Roxell) and climate control (Fancom).

Anniversary celebrations
On the final exhibition day there was an Awards ceremony for the participants and companies that celebrated their anniversaries in 2015, such as VIC Group (25 years), Koudijs MKorma (20 years), Danlen (20 years), and in connection with the anniversary of presence and success in the Russian market: Marel Stork Poultry Processing (50 years), Pas Reform Hatchery Technologies (10 years) and Aviagen (5 years).
Director Sales and Marketing Marel Stork, Arie Tulp says: “VIV Russia 2015 offered us the perfect opportunity to celebrate our 50th anniversary of successful business in Russia, honored by a highly appreciated award. We’re also very proud of the award for the innovative SmartWeigher. Looking back and looking forward to the next 50 years, we can state that poultry processing continues to be one of most dynamic sectors in the Russian food industry, with excellent potential to grow.”
Pas Reform Russia’s directors Wim Schaafsma and Anna Kolygina: “Our company had the pleasure to celebrate the 10th anniversary of our office in Russia. A lot of customers who, over the years, not only became our valued business partners but also dear friends, came to congratulate us at our stand. Russian Poultry Union
The 50th anniversary of the Russia’s poultry industry was celebrated on May 21 in a meeting of the Russia Poultry Union. Vladimir Fisinin, President of the Russian Poultry Union, addressed achievements, problems and solutions experienced by the industry. The meeting was attended by a top quality audience of people from the Russian poultry sector. Special guests was Mr Valery Gayevsky, Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation.
Official greetings to the Russian Poultry Union on the occasion of the anniversary came from the Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, Chairwoman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matviyenko, and the Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation Alexander Tkachev.
