Scientists at the University of Tasmania discovered that sheep fed canola oil in their feed produced meat high enough in Omega-3 fatty acids to be considered a source of the nutrient.

Agronomists at the University of Georgia have found that it is possible to achieve yields of more than 50 bushels per acre from ultra-late planted soybeans planted after corn is harvested.

Canada’s wheat and canola output this season is estimated by Statistics Canada to be lower than traders expected.
The most modern feed mill in the world
The Kronan feed mill owned by the Kalmar Lantmän co-op in south east Sweden is being touted as the most modern feed mill in the world.
We have heard:
- Oklahoma State University has announced the release of its newest hard red winter wheat variety, Bentley, according to Jeff Edwards, head of the OSU Department of Plant and Soil Sciences. Bentley offers high yields under challenging climactic conditions including chronic drought and late winter freezes.
- The Indiana Crop Improvement Association (ICIA) has announced that it is now considered a Non-GMO Project Approved Laboratory after the PCR testing protocol utilised by ICIA has been deemed to meet the standard requirements of the Non-GMO Project for all crop species, including corn and soybeans.
- After inspections conducted by the General Administration of Quality Supervision Inspection and Quarantine of the Popular Republic of China (AQSIQ) and based on recommendations by the National Fisheries and Aquaculture Service (SERNAPESCA), AQSIQ has approved 27 plants in Chile for exporting fishmeal and fish oil to China, according to documentation issued by AQSIQ.
- Australia’s Agriculture Minister Barnaby Joyce and Chairman of the Indonesia Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), Franciscus Sibarani, signed an agreement on August 21 allocating A$12 million from the Australia-Indonesia food security partnership in the red meat and cattle sector for projects that will be mutually beneficial to both nations, according to an announcement on Barnaby Joyce’s webpage.
