03/12/2015: Lesaffre Human Care introduced their newly organic-certified nutritional yeast at FIE 2015

Lesaffre Human Care, supplier of quality ingredients from yeast and bacteria fermentation for the global human care markets, presented the newest addition to their portfolio of nutritional yeasts at FIE in Paris: Lynside® NUTRI ORGANIC.

In fact, the company recently obtained 'ORGANIC FR-BIO-1' certification from Ecocert for this product.

Lynside® NUTRI is a range of primary-grown inactive dried yeasts (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) known as ‘nutritional yeasts’ and manufactured in Western Europe.

These traditional superfoods are an excellent source of non-animal protein containing essential and non-essential amino acids, perfect for vegan-friendly diets. They are also a reliable source of B vitamins, dietary fibres and minerals such as potassium, phosphorus and zinc, making them a great nutritional ‘partner’ not only for everyone who has the desire to lead a healthy lifestyle, but also for a variety of consumer groups with special dietary requirements.

With a protein content close to 50 percent complemented by the B vitamin complex, Lynside® NUTRI is a great fit both for the elderly and for athletes. It can also be used as a source of naturally-occurring vitamin B9 by pregnant women, while the presence of vitamins B2, B3 and B8 as well as zinc imparts great benefits on nails, hair and skin.

As consumer interest in organic products continues to gather momentum, manufacturers can now benefit from all these great features rounded up in a versatile organic-certified product. Lynside® NUTRI ORGANIC is available in two different forms:

  • Flakes, which may be directly packaged in boxes, to be sprinkled on foods or to be used for cooking.
  • Powder, which may be used alone or in combination with other ingredients for applications such as functional foods and dietary supplements such as capsules or tablets.
Consumers’ growing interest in organic products has made organic claims thrive within the vitamin & mineral supplements market. According to Mintel, the number of new products launched bearing organic claims has increased consistently over the past few years to reach a total of 11.4 percent globally in 2014, and is expected to keep rising as consumers perceive organic products as healthier and safer alternatives to their conventional counterparts.

“We see great opportunities in the market for organic ingredients and are very pleased to introduce this organic-certified variation of our conventional nutritional yeast” said Sandrine Cuisenier.

“The benefits of nutritional yeasts are well-known and they have been used by consumers for decades, but Lynside® NUTRI ORGANIC can be considered as a new organic superfood”, she added.
