02/06/2016: AFIA Promotes McDaniel, Keppy and Crompton

The American Feed Industry Association is pleased to announce internal staffing changes. Miranda McDaniel, Paul Keppy and Allison Crompton all received recent promotions. The new roles will allow the three employees to best serve the association's membership and the media while continuing to focus on AFIA's mission--legislative and regulatory affairs.

McDaniel, who has been on staff since August of 2013 as manager of communications, will now serve as AFIA's director of communications. She is the editor of the association's print publication, "AFIA Journal," member e-newsletter, "FeedGram," and several other member and media communications. She leads AFIA's media relations, video production and strategic communications efforts, and in the last year, has worked closely with Crompton to redesign AFIA's member communications materials.

"During the last three years, Miranda has shown tremendous dedication to communicating AFIA's mission and ever-changing priority issues. She's set the groundwork for our social media, introduced new, innovative ways for members to receive industry information and created, then worked to execute, our strategic communications plan with an all hands on deck approach," said Sarah Novak, AFIA vice president of membership and public relations.   

McDaniel is a member of the Public Relations Society of America and serves as Communications Chair for the Junior League of Washington. She earned a Bachelor's of Science in telecommunications-news from the University of Florida's College of Journalism and Communications.

Keppy was promoted from government affairs specialist to manager of government affairs. He has been with AFIA since March of 2013, becoming a familiar face on Capitol Hill, leading AFIA's annual Board of Directors fly-in, attending legislative and regulatory meetings and hearings, and serving as a liaison for AFIA on numerous coalitions. Keppy is the AFIA contact for state issues in the Northeast and Midwest regions of the U.S.

"Paul's passion for the industry and quick-wit has made him an instrumental part of AFIA's legislative and regulatory team. He has worked creatively to educate our members and those working on Capitol Hill about AFIA's priorities through the use of infographics, videos and our website's new advocacy module," said Leah Wilkinson, AFIA vice president of legislative, regulatory and state affairs.

Keppy is a native of Iowa, where his family is involved in pork production. He holds bachelor's degrees in economics and political science from Iowa State University, and a master's degree in public service and administration from Texas A&M University.

Crompton joined AFIA in March of 2014 as its graphic design and website specialist. Her new title is graphic and web design manager. Crompton serves as the designer of the organization's "AFIA Journal," meeting and event promotional materials, and AFIA's marketing resources. She ensures brand consistency and maintains the organization's three affiliate websites: www.afia.org, www.ifeeder.org and  www.safefeedsafefood.org

Crompton leads design efforts for AFIA, and since her onboarding, has worked to redesign and launch AFIA's responsive website, AFIA's overall brand and "4 promises" to members.

"There could not have been a better find for AFIA's visual representation in the industry than Allison," stated Novak. "She has brought vibrancy to our materials through her well-crafted design, resourcefulness and web design execution."

Crompton's background is design, pre-press/production and marketing focused. She is a member of AIGA, the professional association for design, DC Web Women and the National Association of Professional Women. 

She graduated from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University with a bachelor's degree in communication studies and also holds an Associates of Arts degree from the Art Institute of Washington in graphic design.
                                         
McDaniel, Keppy and Crompton's promotions took effect in May.
