On Friday, Lee Hall, the American Feed Industry Association’s Board chairman and vice president of Hallway Feeds, penned an op-ed for Agri-Pulse that calls on the administration to “stop jousting with two of our most valuable trading partners” and move forward with the renegotiation of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA).
The animal food manufacturing industry, which generates roughly $297.1 billion in U.S. sales and over $22.5 billion in local, state and federal taxes, depends on being able to export goods to Mexico and Canada, the largest and second-largest export markets for animal feed, feed ingredients and pet food.
Hall’s op-ed details many of the provisions that the animal food manufacturing industry would like to see retained as part of the updated trilateral agreement and urges the administration to “do no harm” to this agreement.
