2018 got off to a flying start in Cambridgeshire UK today, with thousands of
visitors enjoying an array of new event features – including a new layout, new
seminars, exclusive demonstrations and presentations of the latest technology
and innovations. Below is a summary of day one’s highlights and what is in
store for tomorrow as provided by the organisers.
Cereals Controversial
New for 2018 – four seminar sessions, with 20 farmers, scientists, policymakers and environmentalists discussing hot topics throughout the day. More tomorrow with three sessions and topics including business benchmarking, running a farm without machinery, and how to publicly reduce our impact on the environment.
Cereals Conversations
Another new feature, taking a focused look at serious subjects, including alternative approaches to soil management, the impact of artificial intelligence, guarding glyphosate and the latest weed control strategies. Three sessions tomorrow, looking at the next generation of innovators, the future for fungicides, and how to use data to drive business profitability.
Innovation Insights
A Cereals exclusive – 25 Agri-Tech East members were challenged to present their innovations to an excited crowd in just two minutes. The future of farming was revealed! DON’T MISS: More agri-technology tomorrow with two opportunities (11:15 and 13:15) to see exclusive demonstrations of Harper Adams’ Hands Free Hectare technology – the only demonstration taking place this year outside the university.
Working Demonstrations
The Sprays and Sprayers Arena was full of the latest machines today and you can catch all the action again tomorrow – along with new cover crop drilling demonstrations, and working tillage and drill equipment from Claydon Drills and J Brock and Sons in the working demo plots.
