GEAPS Exchange 2020 to go ahead as scheduled with extra precautionary measures in effect

The Executive Director of the Grain Elevator And Processing Society (GEAPS), Steve Records has sent out an email today reassuring the industry that the GEAPS Exchange 2020 will still be going ahead 21-24th March, at the Minneapolis Convention Centre, USA.

COVID-19 Coronavirus has become a worldwide health issue however GEAPS have stated that their top priority is the health and safety of all attendees, exhibitors, staff and others involved in the conference - outlining a number of precautions they will take to ensure attendee safety.

Here are some of the precautions that are underway to ensure your safety:

• Attendees and exhibitors from countries with a Warning Level 3 from the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have been asked to avoid attending Exchange 2020.

• MSP airport's cleaning contractor was already using a product that kills a wide variety of viruses, including coronavirus. Cleaning crew managers have re-emphasised the importance of carefully cleaning high-touch items like handrails, doorknobs and elevator buttons.

• The Minneapolis Convention Centre has hand sanitising stations in every public lobby and is disinfecting high-touch areas like door handles, water fountains and bathroom fixtures more frequently.

• GEAPS' International Executive Committee is serving as a crisis team and will meet regularly to evaluate virus updates and precautionary measures.

Attendees have been asked to evaluate their own health and that of the people you are in close contact with. They have also been asked to follow CDC guidelines for everyday preventive actions to help prevent the spread of respiratory viruses.
