EuroTier/EnergyDecentral 2022: Strong visitor interest in current industry topics

Animal welfare, sustainability, digitalisation, robotics and decentralised energy supply are the big topics for visitors to the EuroTier and EnergyDecentral trade fairs later this year, according to respondents taking part in this month's EuroTier and EnergyDecentral visitor tracker survey. Covering the agricultural industry, the survey regularly monitors visitor intentions and their main topics of interest.

The intention to visit these leading trade fairs remains strong among the around 1,100 respondents from Germany and abroad. EuroTier, the world's leading trade fair for animal farming and livestock management, will be held together with EnergyDecentral, the leading international trade fair for decentralised energy supply, November 15-18, 2022 in Hanover, Germany.

"The topics that are currently trending in the livestock industry are animal welfare, sustainability, digitalisation as well as automation and robotics. In addition to the sustained interest in realistic solutions for decentralised energy supply, the survey results largely reflect the current challenges facing the international agricultural industry," says Ines Rathke, EuroTier project manager.

"Our visitors are looking for answers to these challenges at EuroTier and EnergyDecentral, and are especially interested in the face-to-face discussions with manufactures, as highlighted by 78 percent of the respondents, and in the technical innovations, as mentioned by 80 percent,' she adds.

Some 97 percent of respondents are considering visiting the two trade fairs in November, and more than half have already firmly decided to attend the exhibition. These impressive results clearly confirm the trend from the previous survey, conducted in early summer, and highlight the high relevance of these topics.

New areas for innovative content
Known as the leading showcase for innovations in the international livestock industry, this year's EuroTier will present several new areas that reflect the industry's high innovation potential. In addition to the renowned EuroTier Innovation Awards, for the first time this year the "DLG-Agrifuture Concept Winner" will also be awarded for concepts and visions that have not yet reached market maturity but are still in the development phase.

The new startup area "DLG-Agrifuture Lab" at EuroTier will offer young, creative companies from both Germany and abroad the opportunity to present their answers to the future questions of modern livestock farming.

"Challenge. Collaborate. Create." describes the spirit behind the new "Prototype.Club.", which brings together talents from startups and livestock technology engineers to solve specific problems identified by exhibitors at EuroTier and Energy Decentral 2022. The teams will start work on a fully functional prototype 14 days before the trade fair opens, then present the finished model, including their formulated business plan, live at the show in Hanover.

DLG-Spotlights on current industry topics
Guided by EuroTier's theme for 2022 - "Transforming Animal Farming" - the DLG-Spotlights will show where the journey is headed for pig, cattle and poultry producers. Husbandry concepts that respect the animals, the environment and the climate while also being consumer-oriented and competitive are presented in a special area in the DLG-spotlight "Whole-Farm management concepts". "Feed for Future", another DLG-Spotlight, provides information on innovative feed formulas and processes in the context of animal welfare, the environment and alternative protein sources. The DLG Spotlight, Aquaculture Lounge, presents the potential that "growth in water" offers for feed, food and energy. Reflecting the growing interest in farm retailing, the DLG-Spotlight 'Direct Farm Sales' will present technical solutions, products and services as well as information on useful marketing strategies.

Farmers´ Voices – Visitor feedback
'Networking at EuroTier is essential. I'm part of the European dairy farmer network and look forward to meeting up with my farming colleagues from other countries there," Sjoerd Ydema, Dairy Farmer, Denmark.

"Especially in socially and economically difficult times, it has already been shown in the past that the cohesion in the industry is unbroken. Thus, meeting with professional colleagues to exchange information and knowledge is a benefit for everyone. At EuroTier we want to find out about the latest technical solutions regarding the reduction of manual work in the barn, as well as new approaches in pig breeding. It will also be particularly interesting to see which solutions or models are gaining acceptance in the field of animal welfare. The theme "Transforming Animal Farming" is therefore well chosen," Günther Riedl, Pig Producer, Bavaria, Germany, and Chairman of the German Group of European Pig Producers (EPP)European Pig Producers (EPP).

'I am looking forward to visiting EuroTier 2022 in November. It is the ideal opportunity for me to understand future technical trends. Also I will meet my colleagues from other countries," Josef Divis, Dairy Farmer and member of the European Dairy Farmers Club, Pacov, Czech Republic.

'Of course, at EuroTier we mainly visit the exhibitors in the poultry sector. But we are just as enthusiastic about opening our eyes to other areas. Being informed across the board ensures that we can face the consumers, with whom we are in constant contact as direct marketers, in an informed way at all levels.." Teresa-Marie and Dr. Niels Pelka, Poultry Farmers with direct farm sales business, Germany.
