Brazilian companies' participation in IPPE highlights their position in the machinery and equipment sector

February 12, 2024 - Companies from the Brazil Machine Solutions program generated US$16.6 million in deals at IPPE 2024.

Eleven Brazilian companies attended, between January 30 and February 1, IPPE 2024 - the largest annual international fair aimed at technology, equipment, supplies and services used in the production and processing of eggs, meat and poultry, as well as inputs for the manufacture of feed - held in Atlanta, in the United States. The initiative was part of the Brazil Machinery Solutions (BMS) export promotion project, the result of a partnership between ABIMAQ (The Brazilian Machinery Builders' Association) and ApexBrasil (The Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency). Brazilian participation also included the presence of the ABIQUIFI (The Brazilian Industry Association of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients) and the Brazilian Renderers project, a partnership between the ABRA (The Brazilian Renderers Association) and ApexBrasil.

During the event, the eleven companies supported by the BMS program (ExperConsult Engenharia; Farenzena Group; Gratt; Hightech; Ibraflex; Kobra; Labmaq; Lenke; Semil; Equipamentos Industriais; Vantec, and Versátil) welcomed 445 direct buyers, representatives and distributors from the United States, in addition to Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, and Peru, among others. In total, an amount of US$16.6 million was generated in deals carried out during the fair and in the following 12 months.

Another highlight of the event was the visit of representatives from the Consulate General of Brazil in Atlanta, as well as the seminar 'An Outlook of the Global Animal Protein Market', featuring representatives from the Government of the State of Georgia, the University of Georgia, and the associations ABIMAQ, ABIQUIFI, ABRA, and ABPA. The seminar addressed the US animal protein market and discussed technologies and trends in the sector.

Opportunities in The North American market

Each year, IPPE brings together the most prominent representatives of the food sector in the world. This year brought together over 1400 exhibitors from more than 130 countries, which makes this event a key space for networking and expanding business opportunities.

Additionally, the United States is the world's second largest consumer market for animal protein and the third main destination for Brazilian exports of the product category supported by the initiative. The country is also the main destination for Brazilian exports of machinery and equipment as a whole. In 2023, US$4 billion were exported to this market, one highlight being its 26 percent growth compared to 2022.

Paulo Guerra, Institutional Relations Manager at ABIMAQ, highlighted the importance of the results obtained by Brazilian participation in IPPE 2024: "This year's edition was crucial for the consolidation of Brazilian companies in the greater emphasis on the animal protein sector in North America. The 11 Brazilian companies supported by the project, which is the result of the partnership between ABIMAQ and ApexBrasil, were able to meet with key players from the US and Latin America markets over the course of three days, reinforcing the brand's participation with former customers and opening up negotiations with future clients."
