Spotlight on solar energy at EnergyDecentral 2024

August 6, 2024 - A trade fair that takes place within the leading exhibition for livestock farming EuroTier, EnergyDecentral is established as the most important platform for decentralised energy supply in the agricultural sector. Covering the entire value chain of sustainable energy production, the EnergyDecentral venue is in Hanover, Germany, November 12-15.

Some 270 exhibitors will be presenting trends and innovations in the area of alternative energy, including security of supply and decarbonisation. This year's specialist highlight at the international trade fair is the 'Solar Transition' spotlight. The new feature will offer a compact overview of technical solutions in the solar energy sector. Visitors to EnergyDecentral can take advantage of a free initial consultation on the opportunities of photovoltaics for their agricultural business.

Photovoltaics is increasingly agriculture's rising star when it comes to decentralised energy generation. The German government's expansion targets coupled with the rising demand for energy for the electrification of agriculture are creating enormous investment potential for ground-mounted systems, storage as well as agrivoltaics, the dual use of land for solar energy production and agriculture.

More than 20 percent of the 270 exhibitors at EnergyDecentral will be presenting solutions for photovoltaics and agriphotovoltaics. The new 'Solar Transition' spotlight organised by the DLG (German Agricultural Society) will be offering visitors to EnergyDecentral a free initial consultation on the opportunities of photovoltaics for their agricultural business. Among others, Next2Sun, the provider of vertical bifacial photovoltaic systems, will be there as a specialist consultant.

Industry experts will cover:

  • Reducing energy costs through solar self-generated electricity (roofs, facades, fallow land)
  • Solar electrification of businesses (hearing, cooling, ventilation, e-mobility)
  • Using open spaces for solar parks (leasing, project partners, refinancing)
  • Agrivoltaics: Harvesting crops and electricity from the land (arable farming, pastureland, fruit growing, vegetable growing)
  • Using canals and lakes as solar areas (floating photovoltaics)

The DLG spotlight 'Solar Transition' is organised with specialist photovoltaics partners, who have been working in close partnership with DLG, EnergyDecentral's organiser, for many years to promote the solar energy transition in agriculture. DLG is also the organiser of EuroTier, the leading animal farming and livestock management exhibition. EuroTier attracts some 2000 exhibitors and more than 120,000 visitors.
