Bulgaria reduces wheat production forecast

According to the statement made by the Bulgarian Ministry of Agriculture, Bulgaria is expecting to harvest 4.5 to 4.9 million tonnes of wheat this year, which means a decrease of around 25 percent per year. The ministry said that it was expected to produce 5 million tonnes for 2020 in May, and reduced the production estimates again with this statement.

Wheat production in the northeast Dobrich region, which is an important wheat production region, due to unfavourable weather conditions and drought, was 71 percent lower than last year and 55 percent of the wheat cultivated area is already harvested.
