Ceva Animal Health unveils solutions for hatcheries and pig farms

November 14, 2024 - Ceva Animal Health (Ceva), the fifth largest global animal health company, as attending EuroTier 2024 in Hanover this week to unveil its solutions in poultry and swine health.

EuroTier is the leading international trade fair for the livestock industry, bringing together global leaders to showcase innovations, set standards and introduce technologies that address current and future challenges in animal health, production and management.

Highlights of the companies solutions include Ceva Genesys, the day-old chick Gender Sorting System for broiler producers, and in swine health, the Ceva Lung Program, a globally unique and standardised system for evaluating lung lesions in slaughter pigs. Additionally, the EASI smart needle device is ideal for high-quality mass treatments of piglets.

Innovation at hatcheries

Ceva is recognised as the world's second-largest player in poultry health and leader in hatchery technology.

At EuroTier, Ceva introduced its latest breakthrough: Ceva Genesys, for automatic and accurate broiler male and female separation at hatch to achieve better flock homogeneity.

"Since 2011, Ceva has worked side-by-side with the poultry industry to modernise hatchery processes. We have successfully equipped more than 150 hatcheries with the next generation of candling technology, Laser Life, or the in-ovo vaccination system, Egginject. Building on our success, we are now installing our latest state-of-the-art technology, Ceva Genesys, for gender sorting for broilers. We are pleased to offer our customers this innovation, which will bring value across their entire production chain," says Sylvain Comte, Poultry Franchise Director at Ceva Animal Health.

Innovations at pig farms

The company is recognised as the second-largest player in the European swine health sector, committed to advancing swine health through high-quality vaccinations, preventative products, services and innovative technologies.

The Ceva Lung Program employs a comprehensive lung scoring methodology to evaluate the presence, circulation patterns and impact of Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae and Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae infections, guiding optimal vaccination protocols. "With results presented in intuitive reports, this program empowers veterinarians and farmers to make informed decisions, supported by data accessible through an easy-to-use app designed for any slaughterhouse worldwide." says Andreas Tschuor, Vice-President Benedach at Ceva Animal Health.

Swine EASI smart needle device is a tool that transforms the way mass treatments are administered to piglets. By integrating with Ceva's software applications, including Injector Manager and Precision Health Program (PHP), EASI provides comprehensive analysis of treatment sessions, equipping producers with valuable insights to optimise their practice. Moreover, the device featured RFID ear tag identification, allowing for precise tracking of individual piglets, ensuring that each animal receives tailored care while upholding the standards of quality control.
