Ukraine's KZM industries acquires Brice Baker Group

KMZ Industries in the Ukraine has acquired the key assets of UK-based Brice Baker Group’s grain storage and processing business, namely the automated Bradbury production lines and all intellectual property rights for Brice Baker silos and dryers, including the renowned Law-Denis grain dryers.

China Agricultural University and ADM research alternative cattle feed

Archer Daniels Midland Company (ADM) and China Agricultural University have launched a research program to confirm that a portion of the corn in cattle rations may be effectively replaced with a mix of corn processing co-products and corn stover the stalks, cobs and leaves left on farmers' fields after the harvest. ADM will fund the two-year research program, and ADM researchers will work with Dr Shengli Li, a world-renowned professor of dairy science at CAU, to conduct a series of feeding trials at CAU as well as cooperative trials with large dairy farms in China.

"We at China Agricultural University are pleased to join with ADM to help investigate the potential to reduce dairy farmers' cost-per-head, and to preserve valuable grain for higher-value uses," said Li. "A growing and increasingly prosperous Chinese population is eating diets higher in animal protein, and driving higher demand for grain in the country. Deep cuts to agricultural budget from 2013

Paul Ryan, Chairman of the House Budget Committee, released a proposed federal budget for fiscal year 2013. If this bill is enacted the plan would cut spending to the agriculture sector in the United States by US$30 billion (€22.622 billion) over the next decade and that would mean that future farm bills would have to adhere to the limits imposed by this cut.

This proposed cut to the budget is to protect the future and help reverse the financial turmoil of the past few years. “Chairman Ryan's proposed budget demonstrates that House Republicans are willing to lead and make the difficult decisions necessary to tackle our debt and deficit crisis,” said Oklahoma Rep. Frank Lucas, chairman of the House Agriculture Committee, in a statement. While Lucas doesn’t “support every detail and proposed cut … writing and passing a budget is the most basic function of governing and requires leadership and political courage.” Read more ...
