Animal Farming Ukraine is the only exhibition in Ukraine dedicated exclusively to animal farming. Until today animal farming in the Ukraine has been incorporated within broader agricultural exhibitions. NOW Animal Farming Ukraine is the only dedicated platform to expand animal farming within the Ukraine. Once again there will be a VICTAM & FIAAP Pavilion within this growing important exhibition in the Ukraine. This year there are more companies that supply animal feed ingredients and processing technology exhibiting within this specialist exhibition pavilion. Many have exhibited before, so proving the success of their participation. Already more than 75% of the floor space has been reserved. It is not too late to book your stand or place your option.

• AFIA submits comments to FDA regarding information collection during inspections

The American Feed Industry Association submitted comments to the docket to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration regarding the agency’s information collection activities as related to upcoming Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) implementation.
 “AFIA supports a strong approach to FSMA training, compliance and enforcement, one that is clear to the regulated industry and allows innovation and different approaches to achieve the same goals in the new law,” stated AFIA’s vice president of feed control and nutrition Richard Sellers.
 Sellers added, “AFIA believes much of the information FDA is requesting is necessary for the agency to collect…[but] there are some areas of concern both in terms of the burden on facilities to gather the information and the ability of FDA to protect this information as confidential.”
 The comments explained that many AFIA members consider their quality assurance programs and food safety plans as proprietary and confidential. AFIA reiterated to FDA that for firms to provide this type of information to FDA means firms needs a clear protection from disclosure to the public.

• Ukraine - one of the leading world exporters of soybeans

In 2010/11 MY Ukraine exported the record volume of soybeans, and in the first half of 2011/12 MY there was observed rather intense exports of the product, due to favourable export prices and profitability of soybean trading operations.

Ukraine occupies the 7th place in the rating of the world exporters of soybeans. According to data of the customs statistics, in 2011 the exports of soybeans in monetary terms totalled 463.2 mlnUSD, an increase of 2.4 times compared to 2010.

In 2010/11 MY nearly 210 Ukrainian companies worked in the sphere of soybean exports. And during 7 months of 2011/12 MY 112 companies already realised soybean export operations.

Lesaffre Feed Additives Celtic’s Equine R&D manager, Catherine Hale, has been named ‘Young Scientist of the Year’ at the European Workshop on Equine Nutrition conference, in Lisbon, Portugal.
Catherine presented part of her PhD data, which centred around increasing the digestibility of forages in horses. Her work has uncovered exciting new findings relating to laminitis, one of the major health problems in horses. Read more...
