16/01/2015: Iran offers prospects of great interest for Italian packaging companies

Iran offers prospects of great interest for Italian packaging companies: this is what emerged from the participation of IPACK-IMA organizers in the last edition of Iran Pack & Print, held in Tehran from December 27 to 30.

The impressive figures of the exhibition (660 exhibitors, of which 130 from outside of Iran, occupying the full 19,000 sqm available) are coupled with the strong interest observed for made in Italy products and for the mission of the Centrexpo/Ipack-Ima group, which has given several interviews to Iranian media (in particular, TV networks IRIB-TV, SIMA News and JAME-JAM, a satellite channel for expatriate Iranians).

The latest Eurostat data for October 2014 reveal that Iran is a trade partner of increasing importance for Italian companies: trade relations between the two countries have virtually doubled compared to the previous year (€179 million as of October 2014 compared to €91.4 million as of October 2013).

The participation in the 21st edition of Iran Pack & Print promoted the creation of new business opportunities and doubled the Iranian delegation to the next edition of IPACK-IMA, already of considerable size in 2012. This combines with opportunities for the future development of shared initiatives discussed during a meeting organized by the Centrexpo/Ipack-Ima group delegation with Iran Pack & Print organizers.

The Iranian food technology market is perceived to be the most important by international investors interested in the Middle East, with Iran being the second largest economy in the MENA (Middle East and North Africa) region. More specifically, there has been a constant increase in demand for packaging technology within Iran, resulting from the substantial rise in the consumption of foodstuffs, a consequence of the country’s increasingly youthful population (60 percent of Iranians are aged between 5 and 30).
