On the 16th of March 2017, Kenyan Cabinet secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries Mr Willy K. Bett and Dutch Ambassador Mr Frans Makken officially opened the new Aqua feed factory of Unga Holdings Ltd in Nairobi, Kenya
The new feed plant is designed to produce 5,000 tons per year of high quality floating fish feed for the East African Market.

With the new plant Unga Farms Ltd. creates the opportunity for local fish farmers to increase their output and lower their productions costs per kg.
Unga Holdings Limited Board Chair, Ms Isabella Ochola Wilson said, “In line with our Vision of “Nutrition for Life”, Unga has taken a bold step – investing, with the support of funding from the Dutch Government – Kshs. 225,000,000 in a state-of-the-art fish feed production facility to serve an aquaculture industry still in its infancy.”
For the design of the plant Unga Holdings ltd. cooperated intensively with the dutch companies Ottevanger Milling Engineers, Almex – Extrusion, Nutreco/Skretting and Larive International.
The companies work together in the Dutch Public-Private partnership program, FoodTechAfrica(FTA).
