Extrusion as a food and feed processing instrument at ExtruAfrica 2012

The Centre of Excellence in Advanced Manufacturing (CoE) of the North-West University’s (NWU) Potchefstroom Campus at the Protea Hotel Kruger Gate in Mpumalanga, South Africa will be presented at an international conference and practical training seminar week on extrusion technology applied in food and feed manufacturing. The ExtruAfrica 2012 conference from July 31 to August 3 2012. The topic is: A global perspective on food and feed extrusion for Africa.

The key presenter will be Dr Mian Riaz from the Food Protein R&D Centre at the Texas A&M University in the US and co-presenters are Prof LJ Grobler, head of the CoE at the NWU and Danie Vorster, technical manager at the NWU’s CoE. Further keynote presenters at the conference and training seminar will be Norman Mokoena, member of the Executive Council responsible for Economic Development, Environment and Tourism, Mpumalanga Provincial Government; and Prof Herman van Schalkwyk, well-known agricultural economist and rector at the NWU’s Potchefstroom Campus. Provimi US applies for grant for expansion

Provimi North America has applied for a grant of US$250,000 (€173,490) from the Montgomery County Commissioners in Ohio, USA, who are considering giving out more than US$950,000 (€659,264) in economic development grants. Provimi was one of the projects recommended for approval. The US$250,000 (€173,490) grant is to be used to offset costs for Provimi North America Inc, a farm animal nutrition company based in Brookville, which is eyeing an 11,000-square-foot expansion to its manufacturing facility at NorthBrook Industrial Park.
