In the soy industry in Holland, companies are pooling their resources and are aiming to become 100 percent sustainable within the next four years. A total of €7 million (US$9.182 million) has been allocated for the transfer to 100 percent sustainable soy. The companies involved announced the initiative at the IDH International Supply Management Congress at the RAI in Amsterdam. “A watershed moment in sustainable trade,” according to Joost Oorthuizen, executive director of IDH, the Sustainable Trade Initiative. Provimi sells french site to ATM
Provimi has sold its factory in France to a rival company ATM as part of its plans to streamline its business operations across Europe. Attila Balogh, Provimi Pet Food's chief executive said "that they are already the number one producer of dry and wet pet food in Holland, Hungary and the Czech Republic. We expect to grow geographically in particular continuing the double-digit growth we are seeing in Germany, Poland and Romania." Read more ...

MS Schippers joins forces with De Heus and Wellhope in China
MS Schippers, an international Holland-based livestock equipment company, has closed a joint venture with De Heus Feeds and the Chinese Wellhope Group. De Heus International, one of the Netherlands’ larger compound feed producers, has already had a joint venture with feed producer Wellhope Group since 2006, by buying shares of the company.
In an explanation, John van den Broek, Schippers Export’s commercial director said: "We received lots of requests for delivery of our products and knowledge to the Chinese market and so we have decided to anticipate to these requests this by creating this joint venture with De Heus and Wellhope."
