20/02/13: We're getting ready for GEAPS; International Grains Program offers training opportunities in English and Spanish

The International Grains Program, in conjunction with Buhler Inc., will host its Expert Milling course in English March 18-22, 2013 and in Spanish April 15-19, 2013. The course will be held at the IGP Conference Center and will give participants a more theoretical and practical milling understanding. Production managers, head millers and shift managers are encouraged to attend.
The English course will be instructed by Tobias Nänny, manager of the Buhler Training Center in Uzwil, Switzerland, and John Steinfort, Buhler adjunct instructor. The Spanish course will be instructed by Ralph Linnemann, flour milling expert from the Buhler training center in Uzwil, Switzerland. The course content will include wheat tempering, cleaning systems, break release, purifier techniques and more. The course will have a combination of in class presentations and practical milling exercises in the Hal Ross Flour Mill.
“This course is focused on experienced millers and the main objective is to teach more advanced milling techniques and broaden the knowledge of the different equipment that they may not be familiar with,” says John Steinfort, Buhler adjunct instructor.
A 2012 English course participant says the course helped him improve his understanding. A 20-year milling industry veteran, Scott Roberts, Cereal Food Processors in Utah, appreciated what the course had to offer and strengthened his milling knowledge.
“The course provided good technical information and application of equipment in mill flow design. It also provided techniques to teach the concepts and apply the information within our company,” he says.

For more information about this course visit the IGP website.
To register for the course visit the International Association of Operative Miller’s website.

We're busy preparing for GEAPS in Louisville, USA where we are an official media partner. There will be over 600 booths for over 300 exhibitors and 2,800 visitors for the grain and feed milling industries. Come and visit us on booth L6 to grab a copy of GFMT or the IMD.Two of the Perendale team will be there, including Tom Blacker from the International Milling Directory (IMD).

EuroTier 2012 is just around the corner

This autumn the biannual show descends upon the Exhibition Grounds in Hanover, Germany for a four-day spectacular from November 13-16, 2012. From feed to fish, poultry to pigs and pretty much everything in between: EuroTier is one of the biggest events in the animal husbandry calendar.

Billed as an international information forum for animal production professionals, the programme will address the pig and cattle sectors and also incorporate the World Poultry Show.

So far 2,100 exhibitors from 50 countries have booked stands with organisers busy preparing for the arrival of 140,000 visitors keen to learn about machinery and equipment, genetics and farm inputs for modern animal husbandry. Most European countries are well represented and there is also a notable presence from further afield with sizeable participation from the USA and China.

The 250,000 m2 exhibition area is divided into species specific areas with dedicated floor space for pigs, poultry, cattle and aquaculture.  Visitors can find out about the latest developments in cattle genetics, modern fish farm technology, supplies for horse stables and much more.

GFMT readers will be particularly interested in the ‘Feed Gallery Special’, which makes its debut at EuroTier 2012. The need for the Feed Gallery is obvious: the unpredictable weather we’ve seen across the globe in recent months, has put increased pressure on feed manufacturers to produce quality feed at an affordable price.

At this new section EuroTier visitors will be able to and learn about the variety of raw feed materials necessary for animal care.  The most important of the 600 feed materials listed in EU feed law and the German positive list will be on show with information relating to quality and provenance.
With such a large number of feedstuffs on display, the Feed Gallery Special is a great opportunity for visitors to learn more about new and uncommon feedstuffs, as well as to find answers to questions on the quality and suitability of feeds.

EuroTier is also the place to catch a glimpse of the newest technological developments in machinery, equipment and installations with many companies unveiling new products. Top new products can also be entered for a EuroTier Innovations award.  This year over 300 products were submitted for consideration, of which 19 won silver medal and five won gold.  Gold medal winners this year include Marel Stork’s AeroScalder and GEA DairyProQ: GEA Milking Place Module from FEA Fram technologies.

Perendale Publishers, producers of GFMT magazine and the IMD, will be at the show so be sure to come be the first to see IMD21, the new international milling directory for 2012/13.

See you at the show!
