Swedish firm celebrate 50 years with third generation analysis system

Perten has announced the release of the DA 7250, a new NIR instrument designed for superior analysis accuracy of many product types in all types of environments. The Swedish firm have said that the DA 7250 removes and reduces many sources of error common to other NIR instruments.
The design incorporates non-moving optical components, internal temperature stabilization, a static hard drive encased in an IP65 rated (dust proof/water resistant) housing. It employs a large spot-size, even larger analysis area, averages many sub-samples, and uses high energy throughput diode array optics to ensure accurate and representative analysis of heterogeneous samples.

Perten has recommended also that many sample types are analysed using non-contact sampling – requiring little or no sample prep and little or no cleaning – removing cross-contamination and sample cell errors. The instrument workflow is uncomplicated encouraging correct and frequent analysis by operators interested in monitoring and controlling plant processes.

This release marks a substantial development in enhancing accuracy in analyzing with large, transferable calibrations and databases covering many products and parameters enabling rapid implementation. Existing applications include dairy, grain processing, feed, flour, oilseeds, meat, snackfood, petfood, starch, and ethanol production.

Thanks to new and updated software The DA 7250 can also be networked and administered remotely.

• Horizon Milling has announced it will begin producing whole wheat flour at its facility in Kenosha, USA later this autumn. When the project is complete, Horizon Milling will have doubled its current overall whole wheat flour capacity. "This increase in whole wheat capacity reflects consumers' growing desire to incorporate more whole grains into their diets," said Dan Dye, president, Horizon Milling. "We are particularly glad to see that the government of Ukraine has clarified that it has not put an export ban in place," said the US Mission to the United Nations agencies for food and agriculture in Rome. EuroTier 2012 is just around the corner

This autumn the biannual show descends upon the Exhibition Grounds in Hanover, Germany for a four-day spectacular from November 13-16, 2012. From feed to fish, poultry to pigs and pretty much everything in between: EuroTier is one of the biggest events in the animal husbandry calendar.

Billed as an international information forum for animal production professionals, the programme will address the pig and cattle sectors and also incorporate the World Poultry Show.
 

So far 2,100 exhibitors from 50 countries have booked stands with organisers busy preparing for the arrival of 140,000 visitors keen to learn about machinery and equipment, genetics and farm inputs for modern animal husbandry. Most European countries are well represented and there is also a notable presence from further afield with sizeable participation from the USA and China.

The 250,000 m² exhibition area is divided into species specific areas with dedicated floor space for pigs, poultry, cattle and aquaculture.  Visitors can find out about the latest developments in cattle genetics, modern fish farm technology, supplies for horse stables and much more.

GFMT readers will be particularly interested in the ‘Feed Gallery Special’, which makes its debut at EuroTier 2012. The need for the Feed Gallery is obvious: the unpredictable weather we’ve seen across the globe in recent months, has put increased pressure on feed manufacturers to produce quality feed at an affordable price.

At this new section EuroTier visitors will be able to and learn about the variety of raw feed materials necessary for animal care.  The most important of the 600 feed materials listed in EU feed law and the German positive list will be on show with information relating to quality and provenance.
With such a large number of feedstuffs on display, the Feed Gallery Special is a great opportunity for visitors to learn more about new and uncommon feedstuffs, as well as to find answers to questions on the quality and suitability of feeds.

EuroTier is also the place to catch a glimpse of the newest technological developments in machinery, equipment and installations with many companies unveiling new products. Top new products can also be entered for a EuroTier Innovations award.  This year over 300 products were submitted for consideration, of which 19 won silver medal and five won gold.  Gold medal winners this year include Marel Stork’s AeroScalder and GEA DairyProQ: GEA Milking Place Module from FEA Fram technologies.
