The Turkish Grain Board (TMO) have recently announced that they are taking every precaution to ensure the sustainability of barley and as well as all other products they are responsible, to prevent the speculative price movement that may occur in the market, especially to protect feeders and growers.
They reminded the industry that barley stocks have been on sae since October 2019 in order to avoid any problems with supply.
In this context, TMO, who stated that barley sales prices have not changed since January 2020, have provided information to feeders and breeders that sales are made at 1.275 TL per ton (around $210 USD) which is under the market prices around 100-150 TL per ton (around $16 – $24 USD).
Starting from March 2020, it was decided to apply a 90 day maturity in barley sales in order to meet the needs of breeders and growers, primarily in regions with an earthquake. In addition, feeder breeders were provided with the opportunity to pay the product prices by bank credits or credit cards.
The demanding barley required to apply to the branch offices in the region where they are located together with the document showing the number of animals.
