23rd Annual IAOM Mideast & Africa District Conference & Expo in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates

The 23rd Annual IAOM (International Association of Operative Millers) Mideast & Africa District Conference & Expo will be held from 5 – 8 December 2012 in ADNEC (Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Centre), Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The event is hosted by Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority (ADFCA) and AGTHIA Group Company, Chaired by H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority, Deputy Prime Minister & Minister of Presidential Affairs-Chairman.

The three-day Conference and Expo is an opportunity for flour millers, machine suppliers, grain traders and other allied trade professionals to learn better milling practices and new trends in technology innovation. This is the premier event and the largest gathering of milling industry professionals in the Middle East and Africa Region.

The overall interest to participate in the conference & expo is estimated to be higher than the previous years. The organiser expects more than 600 delegates from around the world representing multi-trade grain houses, flour millers, government authorities, commodity traders and machinery suppliers, will attend this event.

The first day of the conference will offer various topics related to Management. The Technical/Educational session will take place on the 2nd day, followed by the “What's New” session, which is designed to address milling innovations, trends and challenges. The 3rd day or the last day of the conference will present The Trading session, a great opportunity to discuss the grain and crop situation worldwide.

The exhibition is expected to have 75-100 multi national companies.The exhibiting companies will come from various countries representing grain traders, machinery manufactures, food processing and packing companies, and other experts from the industry. The expo will occupy a gross space of 4,000 sqm dedicated only for the event, providing exhibitors with strategic exhibiting location and good flexibility in term of space booking.

Keynote speaker announcement: UAE's Minister of Environment and Water to open the Convention

His Excellency, Dr Rashid Ahmed Bin Fahad, the UAE’s Minister of Environment and Water, will join the 3rd Annual GPCA Fertilizer Convention as the guest of honour and keynote speaker.  The Minister will open the conference with a look at the UAE’s progress towards environmental sustainability. A long-time proponent of sustainability, the Minister has recently formed a National Committee on Environmental Coordination to promote environmental policies in the UAE.  

Dr. Abdul-Wahab Al Sadoun, Secretary General for the GPCA commented “The GPCA is honoured to welcome His Excellency Dr. Rashid Ahmed Bin Fahad to our 3rd Annual GPCA Fertilizer Convention and we are delighted that he can lend his support to the event as our opening keynote speaker. Dr. Fahad’s commitment to environmental sustainability is well known. The Annual GPCA Fertilizer Convention, co-hosted for the third year running by the Gulf Petrochemicals and Chemicals Association and CRU Events, will be returning to Dubai on 17-19 September 2012.
In this time of significant expansion and uncertainty in the fertilizer industry, the GPCA 3rd Annual Fertilizer Convention will examine how sustainable development can lead to value creation in the fertilizer industry with a special focus on the market demands in the Gulf, Africa, Iraq, China, Brazil, India and Iran.

Organisations confirmed to present at the Convention include The International Fertilizer Industry Association (IFA), Ma'aden, Unilever, SABIC, GPIC, CNCIC, EtherChem (Beijing), Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA), Stamicarbon, Iraq Geological Survey and Nalco as well as market insights from CRU’s own analysts.
This year’s event will begin with pre-conference technical workshop on the first day of the Convention on 17 September.
