Animal feed company De Haus recently organised a seminar in Vietnam which focused on sow health and basic piglet management. The seminar was held concurrently with the tradeshow Ildex Vietnam, which was held in Ho Chi Minh City, March 22-24. Introducing the theme to the approximately 200 attending pig farmers, René Noteborn, project manager, De Heus, said: “The objective, but also the responsibility of an animal feed producer is simply to provide good quality feed.” Read more ...

French based feed additive company has new office in Jakarta

Olmix a French based feed additive company has established a new representatives office in Jakarta, Indonesia. Guy Jaeckel their new representative officer said that "he and his fast growing team had started a promising business in Indonesia where the potential to expand is tremendous". “Also, in 2012 we will put our efforts to establishing Mistral as a 'farm sanitiser', consolidate MTX+ sales and, last but not least, introduce our natural growth promoter MFeed,” Jaeckel adds. Danish claim that US use six times more antibiotics

In a presentation in Chicago, Illinois a danish food official said that the US uses approximately six times more antibiotics to produce 1-kg of meat than Denmark. Henrik Caspar Wegener, director of the National Food Institute in Denmark, said during a panel session at the Chicago conference, “My main advice for the US is that all antibiotics used on animals should be given only with a prescription. That’s not the case at the moment. Antibiotics are medicines. They should be prescribed by someone educated to make that decision.” Read more ...

Russia subsidises feed purchasing

Russia's Ministry of agriculture of the Russian federation recently transferred five billion rubles (US$ 173 million), according to an official statement from the Ministry of Agriculture these subsidies should only be directed towards beef farmers/producers. Cambodia get first Chinese animal feed mill

In Cambodia region known as Phnom Penh Special Economic Zone (18 km west of central Phnom Penh). The first Chinese animal feed mill was inaugurated. This facility is one of five that have been built in Cambodia. The agriculture minister Chan Sarun said " the mill is very important to boost the development of the country's animal feeding industry." It is hoped that this new facility will reduce dependency on animal feed imports as well as increasing the supply locally. Read more ...

Cull causes feed grain demand in South Korea to fall

Millions of pigs, cattle and poultry were culled during late 2010 to April this year in South Korea, due to disease, and as a result the demand for feed grain is expected to fall by as much as 10 percent, according to a local feed group. Kim Chi Young, a director for grain purchases at Korea Feed Association, the nation’s top grain-buying group, said in an interview, that Consumption may fall 7-10 percent in 2011 from an estimated 9.35 million metric tons for 2010

South Korea destroyed about 9.7 million cattle, pigs and poultry after outbreaks of foot- and-mouth and bird-flu last winter. “The Korean livestock industry may remain sluggish for a long time after the outbreaks,” said Kim at the group’s headquarters in Seoul. “It will probably take a long while for the pork industry, in particular, to recover.” Read more ...

DDGS sales to Southeast Asia up

Sales of US distiller’s dried grains with solubles (DDGS) are up globally this year, with the largest regional gain on a percentage basis in Southeast Asia, where exports were up 27 percent year-over-year for the January-March period. That puts sales at 296,047 metric tons for the quarter, said the US Grains Council, citing US Department of Agriculture figures.

The largest percentage growth within the region is Malaysia, which grew from 4,329 tons imports in January-February 2010 to 16,347 tons in the same period this year, a fourfold increase. “We are very active in promoting DDGS in Southeast Asia,” said Adel Yusupov, the Council’s regional director for Southeast Asia who is based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Hamlet protein now also on Bangladesh feed market

Hamlet Protein has appointed is Nature Care Mfg. Ind. Ltd. for distribution of its products in the Bangladesh market. The combined forces of both companies will develop the efforts of Hamlet Protein to increase its activity into poultry and aqua feeds. The agreement was signed during the International Poultry Show and Seminar 2011’ in Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh in March, organised by the Bangladesh Branch of the World’s Poultry Science Association.
