Poland imposes ban on Monsanto GM maize

Monsanto's MON810 GMO maize has now been officially banned in Poland, recent protests from beekeepers and anti-GMO protestors has resulted in a successful conclusion for the two groups.

Recently reported by Digital Journal about a major protest in late March by the Beekeepers and GMO activists in Warsaw demanding that the minister of agriculture Marek Sawicki ban MON810 in the country.

A report released last week shows that worldwide opposition to the biotechnology giant Monsanto and "the agro-industrial model that it represents" is growing. Read more ...

Provimi further invests in Poland

Provimi one of the leading feed manufacturers in Poland recently introduced a new marketing strategy and implemented an innovative investment process in the largest factory in Poland. The investments are part of the development plan for its Polish label, for which the company will allocate 50 million zloty (€12.66 million) (US$18.517 million).

Since the beginning of 2011 Provimi has been working on transforming the existing organization of regional sales into one that is focused on animal species, divided into three groups: cattle, pigs and poultry. Silo Construction & Engineering builds silos for De Heus in Poland

The new feed mills of Netherlands-based De Heus Feeds in Poland have been expanded with the help of Silo Construction & Engineering from Belgium.  Dutch feed miller De Heus  is expanding its foreign assets and offices rapidly and already has a presence in almost 45 countries, supplying more than three million tonnes of feed to the livestock sector.

Not so long age De Heus took over the activities of Evialis Polska, which further increased their presence in Poland. The company is now the second largest player in the Polish market. To keep up with demand in Poland SCE from Belgium was commissioned to build a new animal feed mill in Miescisko. Read more...
