A very satisfactory final balance for the new Converflex series, the first edition where the leading exhibition for package printing was placed in its natural position within the supply chain along with IPACK-IMA and the vertical shows Meat-Tech, Dairytech and Fruit Innovation. The great event that took place at Fieramilano between May 19th and 23rd, topped off by Intralogistica Italia, effectively showcased the leadership of Italian printing and converting technology, which the exhibition set in comparison with the world’s best production reaping great success among the public.
Converting and package printing technologies, increasingly package-oriented and attracting growing interest from end user industries, both food and non-food, proved a magnet for a significant number of visitors: over 22 thousand (22,750), with 25 percent of visitors coming from 116 countries outside of Italy.
The effect produced by the synergy stemming from the great event was important. On registering to the exhibition, no less than 51 percent of IPACK-IMA’s visitors indicated they planned to also visit Converflex. In total, the Fieramilano exhibition complex registered 108,000 participants to the 6 shows - IPACK-IMA, Meat-Tech, Dairytech, Fruit Innovation, Converflex and Intralogistica Italia, all accessible through a single entrance ticket. The number of participants to each show was calculated based on the visiting preferences that each visitor was asked to indicate upon registering to the event, unique in the global industry for the comprehensiveness of the product display.
In particular, Converflex once more proved a winning brand for the presence of running machinery and technology on display (as shown by the large presence of Italian manufacturers members of ACIMGA, among the leaders in these technologies). Numerical figures are backed by exhibitors’ satisfaction with the quality international public.
"Converflex definitely gave interesting results, we obtained excellent contacts both in Italy and in foreign countries," comments Marco Calcagni, President of ACIMGA and sales director of OMET.
“We believe the fruitful cooperation with Acimga in recruiting buyers to invite to the exhibition contributed to the success of all participating companies, as did the conjunction with Ipack-Ima and the other packaging exhibitions."
In addition to the product and service display (the six exhibitions combined brought together a total of 2000 exhibiting companies, for one-third from outside of Italy), at Converflex strong attention was paid to business culture and discussion. In particular, two specific meetings promoted by ACIMGA were very popular among the public: exhibitors and users from the supply chain dialogued with printing and packaging solution providers, experts and end user companies.
The advantages of flexible packaging for food products and innovative converting solutions to brighten up points of sale were the central topics of the two debates. This is indicative of the importance of an increasingly close relationship between the different components of the supply chain – machinery manufacturers, users and solution developers – to promote development and innovation.
Positive comments came from exhibitors at the close of the exhibition.
“A well-balanced exhibition in terms of space, calendar and visitors,” says Ignazio Binetti, marketing and sales director, NTG Digital.
“We met some highly qualified professionals interested and inclined to invest. We were able to devote time to everyone thanks to the competence of our staff at the stand. Creating synergy between multiple exhibitions is an excellent idea that worked very well, resulting in the participation of a diversified public from different industry sectors as well as a large number of foreign visitors”.
The conjunction with IPACK-IMA is one of the most appreciated characteristics of this new series of Converflex: “Converflex’s conjunction with IPACK-IMA created positive synergies and ensured a constant influx of visitors,” states Costanza Cerutti, Communication Manager, Cerutti Packaging Equipment.
“We are satisfied, we obtained new contacts from all over the world: Middle East, India, Thailand, Indonesia. This is further proof of the attractiveness of the Italian industrial system on the global market: Italian machinery manufacturers can indeed be innovative and generate strong interest and expectations”.
The benefits ensured by the synergy with the other exhibitions and with the EXPO 2015 are also testified to by other qualified exhibitors.
Monia Savoia, Sales Dept. & Marketing, Robatech Italia positively comments on the broadening of the exhibition's scope: "We acquired many interesting contacts, with their total number exceeding our expectations. Italian visitors to our stand were the most numerous. Many quality contacts were interested in the Leary range (one of the brands presented by the company) for the converting market, but as we expected we got many requests for the packaging sector as well.
The fair brought many exhibitors an increase in business as well as in contacts.

“At the fair we registered a greater and more qualified influx of visitors, both Italian and more importantly foreign,” comments Maria Costantino, Sales & Marketing Manager, KBA-Flexotecnica.
“Participating in Converflex together with KBA Italia strengthened our corporate image and the excellence of our products on the domestic and international market. The co-location and synergy with other exhibitions brought a larger number of visitors to the fair, especially from outside of Italy. We started out with positive expectations and on balance the results probably exceeded them: we had a good number of visits from interested clients, both current and prospect, and even finalised ongoing negotiations with the sale of high-tech 8 and 10 colour systems”.
