EuroTier, the world's leading trade fair for professional animal husbandry and livestock management, and EnergyDecentral, the leading trade fair for decentralised energy supply, will once again be presenting innovations and trends for agriculture at Hanover Exhibition Grounds, 15-18 November 2022.
The innovative strength of both industries was confirmed by the independent expert commissions appointed by the DLG (German Agricultural Society), which evaluated the entries for the "Innovation Award EuroTier" and the "Innovation Award EnergyDecentral": Four gold and 14 silver medals were awarded at EuroTier, one gold and five silver medals at EnergyDecentral. In total, more than 150 innovations qualified as world premieres. With a new award, the "DLG-Agrifuture Concept Winners", the DLG this year for the first time recognises concepts and visions that have not yet reached market maturity but have potential for the future of their industry.
Ideas network at the trade fair
As part of its aim to support technological progress in agriculture, the DLG (German Agricultural Society) has launched the DLG-AgrifutureLab - a hub dedicated to startup inventions - and the DLG-Protype-Club, a new challenge for software engineers to produce a fully working prototype in just a few weeks. At EuroTier and EnergyDecentral 15-18 November, Hanover, Germany, the DLG-AgrifutureLab is located in Hall 26 where also the DLG-Prototype.Club will be presented, demonstrating its prototypes live in the Innovation Station stand H2.
Pioneering technical program at EuroTier
Under the guiding theme of EuroTier 2022, "Transforming Animal Farming," DLG and its professional partner organisations are offering over 350 technical events (discussion forums, conferences and events) on current issues of the future. International experts will be discussing live in Hanover or on the DLG Connect platform where the journey for the animal husbandry industry is headed. Current topics will be presented in-depth in the six "DLG Spotlights" and in the TopTierTreff, a venue for cattle genetics presenting live animals:
DLG Spotlight: Integrated farm concepts (Hall 26)
Future husbandry concepts must be designed with animal welfare, the environment, the climate and the consumer in mind while maintaining competitiveness. International experts, who have been tackling this complex task, will be presenting integrated animal housing concepts for sows, piglets, finishing pigs as well as dairy cows and pullets. This Spotlight is organised by the DLG with partners BLE - German Federal Agency for Agriculture and Food; BZL - German Federal Information Centre for Agriculture; KTBL - Board of Trustees for Technology and Construction in Agriculture; and VLK - German Federation of Chambers of Agriculture.
DLG Spotlight: Feed for Future (Hall 21)
Leading companies from the international feed industry will present innovative feedstuffs, feed processes and formulations. These include novel protein sources from algae and insects, which are currently available as alternatives for protein supply.
Barn Robot-Event (Hall 13)
The new DLG-Spotlight 'Barn Robot event' is a premiere at EuroTier offering live demonstrations of cleaning robots of for dairy housing floors. On a test area in hall 13, the autonomous robots will be performing cleaning of slatted floors filled with matter that simulates the properties of real manure. DLG is partnering with the Haus Düsse Agricultural Centre (Chamber of Agriculture of North Rhine-Westphalia) and the University of Bonn for the "Barn Robot Event".
TopTierTreff - International venue for 'Top cattle genetics' (Hall 11)
At TopTierTreff leading breeding companies and organisations from the dairy and beef cattle sectors are presenting live animals. Breeding animals and offspring of the various dairy breeds will be presented several times a day. A specialist program on breeding issues and dairy and meat production will round off the event.
DLG Spotlight: Direct farm sales (Hall 26)
The direct farm sales feature is a first at EuroTier presenting sales technical solutions, products and services as well as current marketing strategies in best-practice examples.
DLG Spotlight: Aquaculture Lounge (Hall 21)
The "Aquaculture Lounge" will present trends and opportunities in the production of fish, mussels, crayfish and aquatic plants. The DLG and the '"Bioeconomy at Marine Sites (BaMS)" coordinated by Kiel University have created this international venue.
Network Focus on Animal Welfare (Hall 26)
In Germany, the project "Netzwerk Fokus Tierwohl" (Network Focus on Animal Welfare) aims to strengthen livestock farming for the long-term. At EuroTier 2022, this special feature will be answering questions on current animal welfare issues.
Forum events with interactive discussions
Taking part in the forums in EuroTier's technical program are an opportunity for interactive discussions with national and and international experts, mostly in English. In the 'DLG Pig & Poultry" forum (Hall 17), participants will together provide answers to the question: Does it make more sense under the current conditions to continue to specialize or to diversify? This question is particularly relevant for pig farms in the export-oriented countries of Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium and Denmark.
At the 'DLG-Forum Dairy & Cattle' (Hall 12), recognised experts will comment on current issues in milk production and cattle farming. In the dairy exporting countries in particular, the trend is toward process optimization through automation and digitalisation. In Europe, the focus is on animal welfare, sustainability, climate protection and transparency in the process chain. Globally, there is a trend toward greater efficiency, animal health and the associated higher product quality.
Industry events and congresses
EuroTier is also a platform for numerous industry events and congresses. These include the 'Cattle & Pig Event', 'International Poultry Conference', the Animal Health Event and the DLG Talks Tier (Hall 26) (English: 'DLG Talks Animals') on the topics of food security, climate change, animal welfare and sustainability.
In addition, the German Association of Practicing Veterinarians (bpt) will hold its annual congress at EuroTier 'the bpt Congress' expected to be attended by more than 2,500 veterinarians. The bpt also hosts its veterinary trade fair 'bpt-Fachmesse Veterinärmedizin' (English: "Veterinary Medicine") at EuroTier 2022.
Young Farmers Day
The Young Farmers Day on 17 November is the venue for young farmers in hall 26 and agricultural students from Germany and abroad. The program includes job forums, an international panel discussion as well as meeting points to get to know each other and exchange experiences. The shortlisted candidates for the DLG Agri Influencer Awards 2022, a premiering award scheme incepted by the DLG, will take part in the interactive discussions. The finalists will be announced at the "Young Farmers Party", which will take place in the evening on the trade fair grounds.
