Event: First Global Milling Conference

It was a brief return to the UK for GFMT publisher, Roger Gilbert after IPPE in Atlanta, USA last week. After touching down in London on Monday afternoon, he spent barley 12 hours in the country before jetting off to Chennai, India for the First Global Milling Conference.

Co-organised by Perendale publishers, the event will address food and feed efficiency and safety through primary processing phases of crops to end-use including food and feed safety and security. More specifically, the concept fully comprises the production of feed, premixes, pet food, flour, raw material feedstuffs and (ingredient) foodstuffs.

The conference will also address the reduction of food loss and food waste at roughly one-third of food produced for human consumption, in order to limit the need to increase production and conserve resources. Much of the projected growth will come from developing countries, which will increasingly dominate in the production of most agricultural commodities, and also take on a more important role in commodity trade.

The event runs from February 7-9, 2013.
