Positive wheat production outlook for Moldova

The Ministry of Agriculture of Moldova has recently stated that the country's annual wheat need is 350,000 tonnes, but the production will reach 600,000 tonnes.

However, they have seen a decrease in production in the south and southeast regions of the country compared to last year. An average of one ton of harvest should be harvested per hectare, however farmers are only harvesting 400 - 500 kg. On the other hand, there are 2.5 tonnes of harvest per hectare in Soroca and over three tons in Briceni.

The ministry also has also announced that their barley harvest is over. There has been a decrease of 70,000 tonnes in terms of barley compared to last year. Although this amount is sufficient for domestic consumption, it will affect exports.
