Due to a high demand from international bird feed and animal feed industries, India’s oilmeal exports are up 158 percent to 579,907 tonnes in March, from 224,407 tonnes for the same period last year, according to Mumbai-based Solvent Extractors Association (SEA).
In terms of volume the overall shipment of oilmeals rose 57 percent to 5,071,779 tonnes in the financial year (from April 2010 to March 2011), compared to 3,224,787 tonnes in the previous financial year. In value terms total exports grew 59 percent to Rs 8,220 crore (over €12.8 million) in 2010-11, compared to Rs 5,176 crore (€0.8 million approx) in the previous financial year. Read more ...
