Demand for canola to grow by 50 percent by 2020

Pioneer Hi-Bred global canola research director David Charne said "demand for canola oil is expected to grow by 50 percent by 2020 ". The demand would also mean an increase in co products such as canola meal that can be used in animal nutrition. Dr Charne went on to say "about 20 percent of the growth required to meet the demand would come from an increased sowing area but the rest had to come from better productivity, which implies a yield improvement of three percent per year.
