Peter Ferket discussed the importance of animal welfare. He says that for animals to perform, they need to be in peak condition. He is working on ways to programme animals to perform without the feed items that are of concern to people. But, he says, it is tricky to do this and keep prices down. One way to keep prices at an affordable level is to use natural alternatives such as natural bacteria instead of drugs.

How to feed the world's nine billion people by 2050 is a huge issue.
There are seven billion people in the world today. About a billion of those are not nourished.
