06/03/13: ConAgra, Cargill and CHS form new milling company; Alltech's mycotoxin plan; AB Vista launches Vistabet L in Spain and Portugal

ConAgra Foods, Cargill and CHS have announced a definitive agreement to combine their North American flour milling businesses to form Ardent Mills, a new flour milling company that will serve customers in the baking and food industries.
Ardent Mills will bring together two of the nation’s leading and most respected flour milling companies: ConAgra Mills and Horizon Milling, a Cargill-CHS joint venture formed in 2002. The new company will take advantage of the combined assets, capabilities and experience of ConAgra Foods, Cargill and CHS to bring innovative flour and grain products, services and solutions to the marketplace.
Ardent Mills’ vision will be to help customers increase their growth and profitability in an ever-changing marketplace. The company will also tap the market knowledge, transportation logistics, consumer insights, food ingredients and culinary expertise currently available through ConAgra Foods, Cargill and CHS.

AB Vista has teamed up with Spanish animal nutrition specialist Andres Pintaluba to introduce its liquid betaine product Vistabet L to Spain and Portugal.
Extracted from sugar beet molasses, Vistabet is a natural betaine source that can be added to poultry, swine, ruminant and aqua diets to support metabolism. Its liquid version will be distributed to Spanish customers by APSA Specialities, the feed specialities division of Andres Pintaluba, and to Portuguese customers by subsidiary company Vetalmex.

With moulds and mycotoxins playing havoc on stored grains in 2012, Alltech has launched a scheme to tackle the problem. The Five-Point Mycotoxin Management Program is designed to reduce risk and improve safety, while ensuring that mycotoxins do not limit livestock performance and profitability, or pose a threat to the food chain.
