In light of the increasing prevalence of a new digital age, farmers at the NFU 2013 conference in Birmingham were encouraged to embrace social media to promote themselves and their businesses.
Speaking at the social media session, Lynsey Sweales, CEO of Social B, told a room of farmers to make themselves heard, push important campaigns and bring everything in the agricultural sector together.
"If you’ve got something to say, say it. You’ll see how powerful Twitter is and how it can benefit you as a farmer and as a business,"she said.
Sweales also added that "farmers are embracing blogs to tell people about where their food comes from and all about the industry. If you look on LinkedIn there are lots of farming discussions going on."
