Shortly before the opening of the 2016 World Nutrition Forum in Vancouver, BIOMIN Managing Director, Dr Hannes Binder outlined the feed additive producer’s ambition to become the market leader in the phytogenic feed additive (PFA) space by 2020.
“BIOMIN will be the top phytogenics company within the next four years,” stated Dr Binder. BIOMIN already ranks among the top three companies in terms of annual PFA sales globally.
“For us, market leadership means having the best science, the most innovative products, prompt customer service and unparalleled technical support. These elements ensure an unmatched customer experience,” he added.
Feed efficiency
“In many places, the livestock industry is in transition. Producers are looking to get more out of their feed, reduce antibiotics, shrink the environmental footprint and enhance gut performance. These all point to feed efficiency, and that’s where innovative phytogenic feed additives come into play,” explained Dr Binder.
“The unique value proposition boils down to better feed conversion—that’s what Digestarom® delivers,” summarised Michael Noonan, Global Product Line Manager Phytogenics at BIOMIN, highlighting the product’s one-of-a-kind formulation, documented mode of action, and proven efficacy in numerous field and scientific trials.
As the use of phytogenic feed additives becomes more widespread, more livestock firms recognize the benefits of their use. “Once Digestarom® is incorporated into the diet, our clients appreciate the enhanced growth performance, better animal product quality, emissions reduction, reduced medicinal costs and relief from intestinal stress,” revealed Mr Noonan.
Future development
“We have seen significant demand from livestock producers for effective phytogenics for poultry, swine, ruminants and aquaculture species, and the expectation is that this will continue for the foreseeable future. We will leverage our deep knowledge here to advance the science even further and help the industry fully achieve the genetic potential of their animals,” observed Mr Noonan.
BIOMIN puts considerable investment into scientific research, product development and understanding how Digestarom® works on a molecular level. The BIOMIN Research Center situated in Tulln, Austria and staffed with more than 100 scientists and researchers, conducts a robust in-house R&D program in cooperation with more than 200 respected laboratories, academic and research institutions worldwide.
