Each year the JTIC welcomes more than 2000 participants
over 2 days. Professionals in the Wheat-Flour-Bread sector come from all over
the world to this unmissable event in Reims to discover what France and Europe
has to offer in terms of equipment, ingredients, products, services and
training.
On the agenda of this 65th meeting: 4 plenary conferences, an
exhibition covering 2500 m², an exceptional gala evening and numerous
activities.
Quality at the heart of the
conferences
Health quality, agroecology, varietal improvement, batch hygiene, expected
and observed quality, and nutritional quality, key subjects in the cereal
sector, will be on the agenda of the 65th JTIC.
The quality of tomorrow’s wheat, a
subject proposed by INRA
At a time when increasing
ecological pressure drives us to reinvent production methods, tackle climate
change and reduce the use of fossil-based inputs (nitrogen, pesticides), the
cereal sector remains above all attentive to market demand.
This conference will
address the question of the expected end-use quality of wheat grains -
technological, nutritional, health -, their variability and their environmental
impact. It will also look at the possible future of wheat seeds, lines of
improvement explored by INRA and its partners in terms of the evolution of
farming practices, and conceivable processing technologies in the field of
agroecology and ecodesign.
The meeting is again
being held in October, providing an opportunity, as unanimously requested by
the participants, to return to the customary presentations by the specialists
from ARVALIS and their guests.
An introductory rundown will set the scene for the year presenting the
cereal market prospects in France in relation to the international economic
situation. The specialists from ARVALIS
- Plant Institute will then present the quality of the 2014 soft wheat harvest
according to the agro-climatic context, as well as the technological quality of new varieties of interest to millers and their complementarity with existing
varieties.
The final session will address the contributions of a bread-making test
involving a cold stage to assess the quality of the varieties.
The challenge of “fibre” in
human nutrition
The problem of fibre in cereal products is at the heart of technical and
economic challenges to meet nutrition and health recommendations. Research currently in progress, as well as
various stakeholder initiatives, sheds light on a debate where the issue of
increasing the quantity of fibre in food is arbitrated by consumer
acceptability.
Innovation
driving force of the exhibition
The JTIC exhibition is the opportunity to find new quality partners. Between conferences, the participants can choose from the latest products and services developed for them in terms of facilities and industrial equipment as well as raw materials, ingredients, treatments and other analysis materials and packaging.
This year, over one
hundred suppliers are awaited in the exhibition nave at the Congress Centre, including
5 new companies:
- Les Moulins de l’Alma and Olicice, manufacturers of artisanal milling machinery for short supply chains (granite millstone flour mills, sifting equipment, sieves, spelt wheat dehullers
- Agronet, phytosanitary and sanitary maintenance specialist (control techniques, corrective action, prevention techniques)
- Les Moulin Bourgeois, which offers the most comprehensive range of conventional, whole wheat and organic flour on the market
- Brabender, designer of instruments for measuring the quality of cereals and food products
Cereal producers and processors can also enjoy the workshops to discover
new products and services specially selected for their innovative nature and
their practical applications in the cereal sector.
Reminder:
- The deadline for submitting topics for the workshops and the posters is the 10th of September 2014
- The programme of JTIC activities will be published online at www.jtic.eu on the 17th of September 2014.
