Biotech sweet corn to be sold by Monsanto

Monsanto Co. the biggest vegetable seed maker in the world is planing to sell genetically modified sweet corn i the US this year. The sweet corn seeds are engineered to kill insects above and below ground and will tolerate applications of the companies Roundup herbicide. 

Monsanto vice president Consuelo Madere said 'they will be introduced to growers serving the U.S. fresh corn market starting in the autumn', she said. They will be completing with Syngenta AG (SYNN) of Switzerland who has been selling pest killing seeds for more than a decade. Read more ...
