The new Animal Feed Network is a collaboration between US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the 'Partnership for Food Protection' which has been set up to improve the response times in dealing with fee-related threats, by sharing data about animal illnesses that are thought to be caused by feed.
The system, reported in thehorse.com news pages, says the program can alert government agencies earlier about incidences and help regulators focus their investigations and laboratory resources more accurately when it comes to adulterated petfoods and animal feeds.
The service is only available to government agencies and regulators and not open to the general public.
