BioMar and Tongwei form fish feed joint venture
BioMar has formed a joint venture with one of the largest fish feed companies in the world to produce fish feed for the rapidly growing fish farming sector in China.

Ardent Mills to acquire flour mill from Mondeléz Canada
Ardent Mills announced it has acquired a flour mill in Mississauga, Ontario from Mondeléz Canada for an undisclosed amount.

  • The US outbreak of avian influenza this past spring cost the economy of the state of Iowa US$1.2 billion, killing 30 million hens and 1.5 million turkeys in the state, according to a report commissioned by the Iowa Farm Bureau Federation (IFBF)
  • G3 Canada officially opened a multi-million dollar grain terminal at Colonsay on August 20. The terminal is expected to have a handling capacity of over 400,000 tons per year, according to general manager, Ross Affleck
  • In April Cargill began using drones in Indonesia to monitor forested land to prevent further deforestation as a result of palm oil industry activities, according to the company’s 2015 corporate responsibility report issued August 19
  • Interstate 35 in Waco, Texas was closed for hours on August 20 after an 18-wheeler was involved in a crash with two other trucks and two cars, spilling 51,000 pounds of soybeans, according to NBC affiliate KCEN
